What’s worse than a racist, selfish, lying, power-hungry, oompa loompa as president? The greatest rapper of our generation becoming his best friend. Does Kanye West have hidden motives though? Maybe being buddy buddy with Donald Trump is all a facade and this is just a ploy to get on the inside. If so, West would really be channelling his inner Claus Von Stauffenberg. Tom Cruise would be proud.
They first crossed paths in 2009 when Trump made a comment about West’s abrupt interruption during Taylor Swift’s award speech spotlight, calling West’s behaviour “disgusting” and encouraging people to boycott him and his music. Their next encounter was in 2014 when Trump congratulated West and Kim Kardashian on their marriage, “I certainly wish them the best of luck” said Trump. “I know them well and they’re both very nice people.” Why did Trump switch sides all of a sudden?
After a few more instances where the two interacted with each other, their first meeting in the public eye was in 2016 when the rapper visited Trump at Trump Towers in New York City. Now, after West professed his love for Trump on Twitter in early April, he had an interview with TMZ where he declared on live TV, that “slavery was a choice.” Really Kanye West? What a joke. You’d hope to leave a statement like that up to his mental health issues, because in any context that is dead wrong to say.
On August 29th, he had an interview on Chicago Radio where he had an emotional moment and cried on air with the host. “I don’t know if I properly apologized for how the slavery comment made people feel,” said West. “I’m sorry for the one-two effect of the MAGA hat into the slave comment, and I’m sorry for people that felt let down by that moment.” People began to feel somewhat relieved after this apology. Maybe West just had a psychotic break and he lost his mind a little bit but it’s okay now.
October 11 was the day everybody in the disappointed black community and the whole world saw how mindless West was. In a meeting with Trump in the Oval Office, West went on a 10 minute rant about politics and the economy and concluded by hugging him in front of the whole world. Of course, he was wearing the ‘Make America Great Again Hat’ which he said “made me feel like Superman.” At this point he is as insane as everybody thinks. Please Kanye, can we make you 2006 again?
