Halloween is the night where many people go out and celebrate with firecrackers and pop rocks. For those who prefer to spend it on the couch with friends next to the refrigerator, it is just as fun. Everybody knows the struggle of looking for a movie on Netflix and not being able to decide. Before you know it, an hour has gone by and the decision is still unmade. To help the cause, here is a list of the top five horror movies to watch this Halloween.

First on the list is,The Call, featuring Halle Berry and Abigail Breslin. This is a crime thriller about a 911 operator who receives a call from an abducted teenage girl trying to escape from inside the trunk of a car. It is appealing in the overall real events type feel to the film. It has received a five star rating from Netflix users.

An older more traditional choice is Halloween. Filmed in 1978, featuring Tyler Mane as Michael Myers, the mass murderer of a small town in Illinois. He escapes a psychiatric prison only to kill with his weapon of choice-the traditional kitchen knife.

Psycho, a black and white thriller directed by the well-known director, Alfred Hitchcock, takes a more psychological aspect of the killer in this movie, Norman Bates. Filmed in 1960, it is set in a motel where twisted murders occur, and is to this day, still a favorite “jump scare” film.

Hocus Pocus, a classic among everyone, is a humorous, witty film the entire family can enjoy. The film follows three witches as they terrorize, bully and hypnotize people of the town Salem in Massachusetts.

And for those of you that can’t handle a full on scare, a lighthearted version of horror films can be found! Scary Movie, one through five collect the stereotypes of the horror genre and make fun of them.
