The Curling Zone Play-downs is a big competition that will be taking place Saturday January 20 and Sunday January 21. All teams from each zone representing British Columbia compete against each other to find out who will be going to provincials. Last year, both the boys’ team and the girls’ team went to provincials and ended up bringing home the silver medal. This year, Provincials are by the Royal City Curling Club in New Westminster, which is where Riverside’s teams play out of.

“They’ve worked long and hard,” said Coach David Romani, “I told them just to focus, each end, and each game.” The boys are playing against five other teams in the region and the girls are playing against two other teams, whoever wins, progresses. The girls’ team is made up of the following players: Sarah McCrady, Megan Macgregor, April Kornitsky and Hannah Marais. The boys’ team consists of Josh Miki, Bryn Tomlins, Adam Fenton, Matt Fenton and Clayton Campbell. Along with Romani, alumni Matthew McCrady also coaches the teams. They’re all looking forward to it, best of luck!
